RED AND BLUE by micheletattoli featuring leather handbags

My sister called me the other day to ask me for some advice.       She has a great blue dress she’s been dying to wear, but she’s been invited to a party where the theme is to wear red.  Her plan, wear the blue dress and accessorize with red.  Blue and red can often look casual and bit patriotic.  My sister’s party is an evening event for which she wants a little dressier look.    I love coming up with outfit ideas and inspiration, so I quickly came up with some ideas and emailed this board over to her.  I gave her three outfit ideas and some general tips.

Most importantly, you want to stay away from wearing anything white with these colors.  If you do, it will definitely conjure up images of the American flag.

Outfit #1 -  Add different shades of blue to your look which will highlight it as the main color.  Then you can add pops of reds and pinks for a really fresh and fun look.
Outfit #2 - Why not add leopard?  Leopard always looks great with red and pairing it with this simple navy dress, and color blocked bag, give you a modern spin on a classic look.
Outfit #3- Keep your silhouettes simple and lady like.  Add deep reds and maroons for a super rich look.

High Style, Low Budget

I love when high end designers do collaborations with mega stores like Target and H&M.  It’s a great way to spice up your closet with fun and trendy pieces that are super affordable.  Early February, Peter Pilotto launched a collection for Target with everything from bathing suits to evening wear.  The line is colorful and hip; which should come as no surprise from these British designers’ known for their fun patterns and bright colors.

I love this flirty dress which was a steal, at only $39.99.  I paired it with a black blazer and a skinny belt to accentuate my waist.  This look could easily go from desk to date anytime!

Think Spring Color

Yesterday I fought the biggest urge to throw on my warmest turtleneck sweater with leggings and boots, and decided instead to wear my most colorful Sunday best.  Much like everyone else, I am tired of the snow and cold and ready for Spring.  I figured I could manifest good weather by dressing for it... and it worked!  Ok well not really, it’s still 20ºF but at least we didn’t have a big snow storm.
